This step is inevitable, and has been postponed as long as possible, and is now being taken with great reluctance for the purpose of reducing coal consumption, considering the very limited slock now on hand, so as to maintain essential sendees. The reduel ion will involve all express, suburban, mixed and goods trains. Adverlisement will follow when date is delta it ely fixed. BY ORDER. NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS. COAL SHORTAGE. CURTAILMENT OF TRAIN SERVICER. IN view of the necessity to conserve the Railway Coal stocks, a drastic curtailment of passenger and goods services will be put into operation on Wednesday, duly 2nd. Travelling’public to avail themselves of (he opportunity permitted by (lie. continuation of the present service of passenger (rains to complete contemplated journeys on or before, Ist -Inly, as after (bat dale, until further notice, travelling facilities will be strictly limited to the barest necessity. LOCAL BILL. The Manawatu County Council hereby gives notice that the said Council proposes to introduce in the General Assembly at its next Session a Local Bill entituled “The Manawatu County Loan and Empowering Amendment Bill.” The objects intended to be effected by the said Bill are: —(1) To increase the amount of the Special Loan authorised to be raised by the Manawatu County Loan and Empowering Act, 1917 (Local), for the purposes of the Tramway from Himatangi to Pukenui, and for,stone crushing and road-making plant, and other purposes in such Act mentioned, from £IB,OOO to £30,000. (2) To enable the sum of £2,902 and £lO3, expended out .of General Account for the purposes of the said Tramway, and of the said roadmaking plant respectively, to be refunded to the General Account out of the said loan money. AND NOTICE is hereby further given that copies of the said Bill have been this day deposited in the Magistrate's Courts at Bulls and Boston, and at the Office of the said Council at Sanson, and that such copies will be open for public inspection at the said Courts and office respectively for three .complete weeks from this date.
