FOOTBALL.
After a spell of a year or two, mainly on account of the difficulty in getting teams together through so many players being away at the war, football has this year been resuscitated in the Ilorowhenua Ruhhy Union’s district, which includes Foxton. An attempt was made by local enthusiasts to get together senior and junior teams lo take part in the Horowhenua Union’s competitions, hut were unsuccessful mainly through the cost of travelling being too great and also to (he fact that a number of players had already joined a club in the Manawatn district. A meeting of players was held a few weeks ago, and after discussion it was decided that the only way possible to revive the game locally was to run a competition in Foxton, and with this end in view application was made to the Horowhenua Union to create the Foxton district a sub-union. This application was dealt with at the annual meeting of the Horowhenua Rubgy Union at Levin on Friday night, when it was decided that whilst the Horowhenua Union could not agree to the establishment of a sub-union, they would, in order to revive Rugby in Foxton, allow a competition to he played there, under the jurisdiction of their Unioiq each team taking part in such competition to pay to the Horowhenua Union the same entrance fee as is paid by teams taking part in the Union’s competition.
The above decision should meet with the approval of all football enthusiasts and players in this part of flie district, and a meeting of all interested is to lie held in Air Perroau’s rooms at 7.30 o’clock to-mor-row night to make the necessary arrangements for the local competition.
