WAR REGULATIONS.

FLAXWORKERS’ UNION EXERCISED. At a meeting of the AlanaAvatu Flaxworkers’ Union on Saturday, a series of motions relative to the Avar regulations Avere adopted. The resolutions are as follows:—(1) That the repeal of the Avar regulations that interfere with the freedom of industrial organisations and members thereof be demanded, (2) That we demand the release of all persons suffering imprisonment under the Avar regulations. (3) That avc demand the immediate release of all conscientious objectors Avho are imprisoned because of refusing to perform military service. (4) That if the Tokaann road (Waimariuo district) is urgently needed for tourists, that the prisoners be better fed to Avithstand the intense cold, and that a stove or other heating appliance be placed in each hut to keep the place and bedding dry in the winter months, otherwise to close the camp and remoA*e the men, as Ave consider it is not a fit place to have prisoners in winter when they are only half fed and are compelled to sleep on damp mattresses and blankets. A strongly-Avorded resolution was also passed in reference to the death of Air W. Fj. White, a conscientious objector, Avho died in Auckland prison, and the treatment he is alleged to have received.
