CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Quite recently 1 had occasion to use, per motor, the road which turns to the left, just after passing the Alarotiri creamery. I do not know the name of the road, hut on making enquiries avus informed that the Alanawatu County Council is responsible for its condition, and furthermore, that some of the settlers were contributing to the Council as much as £4O and £SO per annum for rates. I am very curious to know how this money is being spent, for a more disgraceful condition of affairs under the jurisdiction of any council, except in the back-blocks, would be very hard to find. The winter is coming on, and unless the road is attended to at once it will be almost impassable for vehicular traffic of any description. Surely it is time the Council woke up and did something. — 1 I am, etc,, TRAVELLER. Palmerston N., June 4, 1919.
