Jenkins had been in custody since February, the long delay in dealing with him being the result of his poor health. Sir Robert Stout; “He is one of the victims of jur drink traffic. . . Finding that he was hard up, with no food for his family, he stole a little money, £2 8s 3d, and some beef.” Continuing, his Honour said there was no doubt about the case at all —the man was suffering from alcoholic poisoning. The proper course would he to send , him to Roto Ron. Unfortunately, '* r for the last two or three years, Jenkins, had done only occasional work and had not been a good citizen.
