BOLSHEVISM.
SHACKLETON’S WARNING. AVORSE THAN GERMAN MILITARISM. London, April 3. Sir Ernesl Shaoklolon has returned from Murmansk, to Archangel. Interviewed by a Reuter correspondent, he said the position of I ho Allied northern forces is undoubtedly an anxious one. The Bolshevists are well equipped anil organised, and ably led. They largely outnumbered the Allies, hence both the Murmansk and Archangel fronts were in danger. It was not merely a question of saving our own troops, for half a million people threw in (heir lot with us originally against the Gormans, and at present arc against the Bolsheviks. Consequently, (here was a moral obligation to lake definite action and make ah announcement that there would he a spear-point thrust in the heart of Bolshevism, and this would be an inventive to Russian mobilisation. Sir Ernest Slmckletuu was confident that sufficient volunteers could be obtained to meet the situation. Me urged that Britain had not yet realised what was at stake if the peril is not instantly grappled with. A three months’ campaign hy a volunteer army would break the Bolshevist monster, which was becoming far worse than German militarism.
