THE HEMP INDUSTRY.
A return lias been issued showing’ the quantities of hemp, tow, and stripper-slips graded at the ports of (he Dominion during the month of March. The total number of bales of hemp graded was 13,357, as compared with 17,751 for (he corresponding period of last year, a decrease of 1,391 bales. For the twelve months ended March 31st, 1919, the number of bales graded was 139,773, as compared with 102,8.18 for the previous twelve months, a decrease of 20,015 bales. During the month 2,831 lades of tow were dealt with, as compared with 3,501 for the corresponding period last year, a decrease of 730 hales. For the twelve months ended March 31st, 1919, the number of hales graded was 21,113 as compared with 30,500 for the previous twelve months, a decrease of .15,347 bales. During the month no stripper-slips were graded, as compared with 223 bales for the. corresponding month hist year. For the twelve months ended March 31st, 1919, the number of bales graded was 599, as compared with 2,105 for the previous twelve months, a decrease of 1,503 bales. ' ____________
