MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING
Tim monthly meeting of the Manawafu County Council was held at Sanson on Tuesday, Cr. H. H, Hunt presiding in the unavoidable absence of Fir Janies Wilson, who was granted leave of absence. Other members present were Crs. W. Phillips, S. Penny, J. Boyce and W. E, Barber. The Wailway Department was granted permission to lay a water pipe across the road at Kangiotu from the Dairy Company’s factory to the railway tanks. The State Advances Department notified that £7OO remitted to the Council’s credit on account of the Koputaroa road No. 2 loan. The .Hastings Borough Council wrote urging that united action be taken to the end; that Sir Andrew Bussell be recommended as the next Governor-Genera I of New Zealand. —The communication avus merely received, members being inclined to the opinion that the matter was outside the province of loeat bodies. The commit lee appointed lo organise classes under the Workers' Educational Association at Poxlon wrote applying for a grant in aid of this project. —Consideration was deferred till next meeting. The county clerk reported that six motorists had driven through the Sanson township at an excessive.! rale on (he occasion of (ho Bulls race meeting. —It was decided to prosecute the alleged offenders, the opinion being expressed that unless the “speed liends” were brought to book “there Avonhl be a death or (avo in the township.” The treasurer reported that the county fund account was in credit in the sum of £522, and the loan account in the sum of £750.
