Sir. —There are .many proposals for the celebration oi the coming peace which are possible, hut only one oi which will be universal—to have ti bonfire.
Mav I crave permission to put before your readers, and before none at least of those men and women who fought and stopped both (lie Hun invasion and the epidemic of influenza, a proposal thali [lie bonfire should tie as big as possible.
Further, that every householder should be asked to put every scrap of material, such as disused bed and bedding, carpels, pictures, chairs, books, papers, magazines, shelves, cupboards, boxes, clothes, boots, hats, jackets, mantles, scarves, blazers, ties, ribbons, bloomers, and animosities, etc., etc., on the pavement at such a time and such a block, north, south, east and west, as (o allow the local authority to remove them under proper guard to the largest public ground available, there to be deposited over a caret'ullvmade wooden framework allowing ample draught for perfect incineration, the pinnacle surmounted by a representation of the Avar maniac, William Hohenzollern, and a sufficiency of his Headquarters Staff, who so wished for the “real thing.” The whole to be lit at, say 0 pan., by pre-arrangement with neighbouring toAvns and townships, the fires of Avhich, composed of similar dis-ease-harbouring material, lighted simultaneously, yvill announce to the youth of the.
