STRIKE ON THE COAST.
MINERS AT MILLERTON AND GRANITY OUT.
Westport March 27
The Millortou and Granity coalminers struck this morning. The mines are completely idle. The Millerton correspondent of Hie Westport Times alleges that .the men have had substantial grievances for many months past, • A slop-work meeting was held this morning, # when Mr Davidson (president) arid Mr Williams (secretary) addressed the men. It was resolved to send a deelgation to the company’s manager, who was available at Granity, but the interview was without result, and a strike was immediately declared.
STATEMENT GY THE MANAGEMENT. West port, March 28, In reference to the Alillerlou dispute, the management explains that Hie miners are supposed to truck i.lj required for 22 yards.
