GROUP RIFLE MEETING
PALMERSTON WINS THE CHALLENGE UUP.
The No, 0 Group rilie meeting, which was held at Wanganui on Thursday and Friday, was a very successful one, and some line shooting records were put up, (‘specially by the Palmerston and local boys. There were 240 Senior Cadets present, ineluding 103 from Palmerston, and 12 from Foxton, besides GO Territorials and members of rille clubs. Practically all the important prizes were won by (lie .Palmerston lads, while a team from I lie Palmerston North High School were success fill in winning the (cams’ challenge cup, presented by Air F. S. Goldingbam, Foxton being second in aggregate. Following arc some of the detailed results: —
Teams’ challenge cup: P.N. Tligb School Coy. 16, Ist; Coy. 49, Foxton, 2nd; Coy. 23, P.N. Cadets 3rd. 200 yards: D. Johnson, P.N.H.S., 1 (27 out of possible 28); -Sergt, Ashcroft, 2; Cadet Smith, 3. 200 yards (snap shooting): Cadet Butterfield (Taihape) 1, Sergt, Ashcroft 2.
200 yards (rapid tire) : Corporal Tovey 1. Foxton Alatches. —Alatcb 1: Sergeant Glendinning 23, King 21, Wright 19. Match 2: Sergeant Glendinning and Wright equal, 1(5, King and Griffin equal 13. Match 3: Hornblow and Reid equal 10, Wright and Sergt. Glendinning equal 13. Further details as to prizes are not yet known.
