THE HEARING CONTINUED,
Wanganui, Feb. 13,
Giving further evidence to-day at, I lie court-marl ial, Lieut. Crumpton said no complaints had been made against him by any of these men through the ordinary channels whilst lie was in charge. Accused’s case was then closed. The Prosecutor said (ho case was a straightforward one, with only accused’s unsupported evidence against Wilson’s charge, which was cleax’ly pi’oved. Mr Loughnan (for (he defence) had taken consider-, able responsibility in closing his case when he had other witnesses who could attend.
Mr Loughnan, after questioning (he standing of (he Court, which had paid more attention to hearsay than direct evidence, asked for the honourable acquittal of his client. Captain Baldwin (Judge-Advo-cate), after addressing the Court, said it would reserve its decision,, and would proceed to hear the second charge, of permitting unnecessary force to he used by the staff to compel Private If. Wilson to do park drill.
