FOXTON DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB.
A committee meeting of Hie ahove was held in the “Herald” Office
on Tuesday night. Present: —Rev. AY. Raine ■ (chairman) and Messrs R. Rand, C. Cronquest, J. Hartley, Claris, A. S. Walsh, C. Rand and W. Symons. Acting upon the suggestion of the Linton Rifle Club, it was decided to send the aforementioned cdub a challenge to shoot off a match at the local range on Saturday, February Sth: the ranges to be 200 and 300 yards, seven shots and sighter each; to start at 2 p.m., and (o ('(insist of 10 men aside. The following team was selected to represent the local club: Messrs J. Hartley, (lonian (2), C. and R. Rand, C. Cronquest, 11. Claris, A. Barnard, AY. O’Brien, IT. MeKegney; emergencies, A. AYalsh and AY. Symons. Mr AA’alsh was instructed to effect, repairs to the flagpole, etc. It was resolved to affiliate with the N.Z. Ride Club executive. A vote ol sympathy was passed to the widow of the late Rifleman C. D. May, fhe members standing, and the secretary was instructed to convey same to the widow. Accounts amounting to £1 13s 2d wore passed for payment. Mr A. S. AYalsh was elected to the committee to till the vacancy caused by the death of Mr May. ft was resolved to ask the Borough Council for a grind of £ls towards the upkeep of targets and shed, which were reported to he in a had state of repair. Mr AYalter Symons wits elected a member. The secretary reported a credit balance of. £7 18s lid.
The challenge team are requested to turn out for a practice shoot next Saturday afternoon.
