AN INCIPIENT FIRE.
Several young men were in front of Mrs Tevioldale's shop on Tuesday night, at about 8.20, Avben they noticed a glare inside of Hie building', and were able to set? a hand holding a lighted match through Hie. back Avindow. They Avenl to tho rear of the shop and discovered that the lighted match bad been dropped on some cardboard boxes containing toys. The tiro did practically no damage, and was extinguished. Tho matter was reported to the police. We are informed that Airs Teviol dale had left the Avindow open at Hie top for ventilation purposes. If the object of the prowler was incendiarism he selected a building Avhich is practically lire-proof. Further, there avus an absence of tlie use of kerosene or benzine to assist in a blr./-c to destroy - the stock. The police are of opinion that the person may haA - e contemplated burglary.
