THE ROUND RUSH.
In connection with the proposed acf(uisition of the Round Bush as a scenic reserve, the local Borough Council, at its November meeting, suggested that any difference in the valuation of the land and the amount of the Government grant (£-125) should be borne equally by the Foxton Borough Council, Foxtdn Harbour Board, and Manawatu County Council. If the other two local bodies would agree to this suggestion the Foxton Borough Council was prepared to pay., its share. At last night’s meeting a letter was read from the Manawatu County Council, advising that until some steps were taken to preserve the bush and same was fenced and drained, the Council could not see its way to contribute towards the cost of acquisition. It was decided on the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Cr Henderson, that the Foxton Harbour Board be informed that the Manawatu County Council not being willing to contribute towards the cost of acquiring the Round Bush, the matter of acquiring the reserve will have to be allowed to rest meantime.
