MINE WASHED ASHORE.

New Plymouth, Jan. 11. The occupants of Bridge’s station at Pihoi, one and a-half miles north of the Awakino river, were startled last night, about 10 o’clock, by a severe explosion, which shattered the windows. This morning the fragments of a mine-easing were found between the house and the beach. The mine apparently struck a reef in front of the house, which is 150 yards above high water.
