FOXTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

ROAD OVERSEER’S REPORT. The road overseer, Mr A. 6. Huntley, reported as follows at last „ night’s Council meeting: —During the past month the road staff has been engaged in filling in over concrete culvert at back of gas works; taking up old wooden culvert at junction of Johnston and Purcell Streets, and replacing same with 18-inch concrete pipes: mowing grass in cemetery; patching holes in Avenue Road and Johnston Streets, and tarring and sanding south end of Main Street. During the present month i propose to continue thq tarring work in Main Street to the ■ point we reached last year, and then as there will still he a great deal of tar on hand, I would respectfully suggest that the Council authorise some of the present tarred footpaths be done, especially that part from Cook Street corner in Main Street round to the end of the concrete kerbing in Union Street. Wharf Street footpaths are also beginning to break up, and would no!/ take much material and labour to keep them good. —The report was adopted.
