MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.
The lirst meeting of the newly-el-ected Monloa Drainage Board Avas held on Thursday even dig. there being present: Messrs W. E. Barber, J. Chrystail, F. S. Easton, A King and AV. Ross. The Clerk reported the v , snL of the election, an.l asked for nominations for the position of chairman. On (lie motion of Messrs Chrystail and King, Mr F. S. Fasten was elected chairman, and the clerk (Mi Hock) treasurer. The Cleric reported the debit balance on general account at £94 32s ltd, and (he credit to interest account at £21(1 19s lid, and that, after transfers, the accounts would stand: general £2B 5s sd, and interest £94 2s (id, both in credit. The rates levied for the year were £139 3s lid general, of Avliicli amount £359 14s 8d Avere collected, leaving £74 9s 3d outstanding, and £234 4s Ocl interest, of Avliicli £205 33s 3cl av;is collected, and £2B 10s 9d was still outstanding. Mr (Madden submitted a report on the flood gates, ami recommended certain repairs,—It was decided to block the damaged gate and leave further considera I ion of (he report, over until the next meeting. Mr R. Easton gave an estimate of tho cost of floodgates for Duck Creek at £B(i. —This matter was also held over until next meeling. Mr Chrystail moved, and Mr Barber seconded, that this meeting records its sincere appreciation of the good Avorlc done by the exChairman, Mr B. G. Gower, over a period of many years, and that a letter be sent to that effect, with the season’s greetings. The motion Avas carried, the Chairman asking to have his vole recorded against it.
