MANAWATU COUNTY’S STIPULATIONS. DRAINING AND FENCING. At Wednesday's meeting of the County Conned a letter was received from the Fox ton Borough Council relative to the acquisition of the Pound Bush as a scenic reserve. The Chairman explained that it was desired that the Council, with the Foxton Harbour Board and (lie Foxton Borough Council, .should contribute the difference between the Government valuation and the value placed on the reserve by the valuers representing- I lie Foxton Harbour Board and the. Borough Council. It was, said (he chairman, a question of compensation being paid to the Foxton Harbour Board, which at present had control of the reserve 1 . Cr. Hunt said (hat as a lover of the native bush, he would like to sen the bush in question acquired. Cr Barber stated that the Harbour Board had offered to the Borough Council road access to the reserve. After some discussion, on the motion of Sir James Wilson, seconded by Cr Barber, it was resolved that (he Council understands that the land will be vested as a scenic reserve, and under the control of The Scenic Commissioners, but until the Council can see some prospect of Hie bash being preserved by way of draining and fencing the Council cannot sec its way to contribute towards the cost of acquiring the reserve,’’
