FOXTON RACING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of members of the.Foxton Racing Club was held last night. There was only a small attendance. Mr W. E. Barber, vice-president, occupied the chair, and apologised for the absence of the president, Mr J. 11. Whyte, wlio was recovering from an attack of influenza. The report and balance-sheet, particulars of which have already appeared in these columns, was 1 read and adopted. In speaking, to the motion for the adoption of same; the Chairman said the year had been a most successful one. The receipts from all sources totalled £4,072 10s sd, as against £5,010 10s fid the previous year. The profit on the meeting was a substantial one, amounting to £BO2 0s Bd, and exceeded that of the year before by £34 Is 3d, and when it was taken into consideration that during tho year just closed there was only one day's racing against two days the year previous, the results were highly satisfactory. The tolalisator turnover for (he one day reached the handsome sum of £24,005, as against £33.120 for the (wo days in the previous year, a difference of % only £7,125. Last year the Club ran its own gates for the first timu for a number of years, and after deducting tho expenses there was a, net result of approximately £290, which sum exceeded anything previously obtained by contract for two days’ racing. Owing to the racing days being reduced by ball', there was a decrease of £2BO (is Od in the amount received for nominations and acceptances. There was also n decrease of £75 14s (id in members’ subscriptions, due to the fact that a number of members were away with the Expeditionary Forces, and others leaving the district. Since the last annual meeting he was pleased to say that the world war had ended, and no doubt next year the Club would have its lost raee day restored. Eor (bo forthcoming meeting the Committee had increased the slakes hy £350, and as there was every likelihood of obtaining a special train for the meeting, everything pointed 'to a must successful gathering. Thymic. Surgeon, Dr. Mandl; clerk of scales, Mr J, V. Buit; timekeeper, Mr E. E. Smith; clerk of < ourse, Mr G. Coley jiuir. Amended regulations suggested by the Racing Conference for the purpose of more effectually dealing with undesirables were adopted. It was decided (hat this annual meeting recommends the Commit!ee to appoint a suh-conimittcc to report in detail upon (he proposed building scheme, and submit same to a general meeting of members. Voles of thanks to the retiring officers and the Chairman concluded the meeting.
