CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor)
Dear Mr Editor. —Will you kindly insert this letter in your paper, on behalf of my schoolmates and myself (a school-girl). For the last almost five years we have been taught to avoid any purchases of German goods, and now, after helping all we possibly could to assist the Re-fur-nishing Fund, wo find that the money raised is lo buy a German manufactured piano. How can we he expected to carry out what we have been taught, or even try to do so, if tins is to he our example. So please consider (he matter and try if possible to got a piano of British make, as we all think that we could sing better to one of that kind. — I am, etc.,
STELLA KOBIXSOX.
[THE request of our little correspondent should be made to the School Committee; Would Stella ask traders to destroy thousands of pounds worth of German goods in their possession purchased prior to the war, or ruthlessly destroy those inanimate playthings of German make in the children’s possession, and so dear to their hearts? You and your little mates will, we feel sure, cultivate a nobler sentiment as yon grow in wisdom and learning. Hate a.nd vindictiveness should at all times be avoided by good liftie girls who desire to become gentlewomen. Don’t allow unkind thoughts to enter your mind about an instrument which did you no harm, but which is willing, under skilful manipulation, to assist you to sing your sweetest. —Ed.H.j
