THE SEASIDE RESORT.
Messrs Edgar Pratt and A. Dawiek write as follows to the Palmerston Standard; — The holiday season will soon be upon us, find heads of families will be arranging for a spell at the seaside, and the claims •of Foxton beach are now stronger than ever. May we crave a little of your space to show what the Beach Improvement Committee has done since last year, and what they propose yet to do. During the last three months over 1,500 pine trees have been planted, Ihe surf bathing sheds haye been rebuilt, and sign-boards erected. New arrangements have been made for a building at present in Foxton town which it is proposed to remove to the beach, and reer.ect on the recreation grounds as a public hall. This will be a great acquisition to the beach, and those who will be at the beach fit weekends are invited to assist Mr Arthur Dawiek to till in and level the site. It is hoped this holiday season to make arrangements whereby visitors to (he beach for the day will be'able to get a supply of hot watei', and in this connection it may be mentioned that the road right through to the beach is now in excellent order for motoring. The whole of the labour in the improvements so far carried out has been generously donated, and the committee feel that a little help from the public by way of donations would soon enable them to make the beach the most attractive holiday 'resort in the Dominion.
