TOTAL CASUALTIES. A statement published recently gave the total deaths of members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force to 14th October. The lull casualty statement of both officers and other ranks is as follows: — Other Officers. Ranks. Killed in action 450 0,058 Died of wounds 180 3,470 Died of disease 28 000 Died, cause unknown 0 781 Drowned 10 48 Missing 2 5)1 Prisoners 5 351 Wounded 1,508 30,740 Total 2,204 51,510 Grand total 53,804 It should he made plain, of course, that a very great number of the wounded have returned to the line, so that the list is much greater numerically than the total losses of the force.
