FISHING IN PALESTINE.

A former Fleet Street worker with the Palestine forces writes: —“At present our bivouac is on tin; coast of the Mediterranean. The native fisherman round here is nothing if not up to date, and his charges are the last word in profiteering. I was more interested in his methods of fishing. He wades close in shore abont waist-deep until be strikes a shoal. Then he lights the fuse of a dynamite cartridge, pops it in the water, and he and his assistant gather up the stunned fish as they rise to the surface. Then lie proceeds to retail his catch at very rUitf rales —2s being brazenly demanded for a couple of small fishes.”
