PARENTS FIXED

The Truant Inspector, at yesterday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, proceeded against Octavius Cook, on two charges of failing to send his children to school. Defendant pleaded that lie was entitled to exemption as lie lived about four miles away from Hie school. The Magistrate said that -if defendant lived that distance away from the school he was entitled to exemption, hut he had not applied for same, and was fined Is, with costs 19s.

Octavius Dawson pleaded guilty to keeping his hoy away from school, and was fined KL, with costs 12s, and William Robinson, on a similar charge, was lined ss, with eosls 12s.
