PATRIOTIC SHOP.

The Patriotic Shop on Saturday was in charge of Mesdames Ross and Cronquest, who report good business, the - takings amounting to £25.

The various competitions were won as follows-Coal (correct weight 19st. 2J!bs.), won by Mrs Follett and Mr Bullard, 19st. 2lbs.; muslin camisole, Mrs Hornblow (No. 23); silk camisole, Miss Robinson (No. 13); poker-work box, ‘Mrs Kirkley (No. 61); dinner, Mr Jackson No. 101); cake, Mr Bullard (No. 48). The sheep donated by Mr 0. Robinson wejghed 74tlbs., and was won |>y Mrs McCarthy. There were ten entries for the sponge sandwich competition, which was won by Mrs C. Robinson, with Miss Speirs second. Gifts are acknowledged from the following’:—Mesdames Ingle, Gower. Bard (Himatangi), Hornblow, Pearson (Moutoa), Healey, W. The shop next Saturday will be in charge of Mesdames Davis and A. S. Easton. Numerous competitions have been arranged, and there will be a good supply of Nelson apples on sale.
