FOOTBALL.

A smoke .concert, arranged by members of the two junior football teams, was held in Mr Perreau’s rooms last night. It was intended to present the Perreau Cup to the winners (Crusaders), but owing to Ihe Cup not having been received buck from ’Wellington, where it had been sent’for engraving, the presentation had to be postponed, and will now take place at the dance to be held on Friday evening next. At last night’s function Mr Perreau occupied the chair, and the proceedings were opened by the singing of the National Anthem. After the wants of the inner man had been satisfied, the following toast, list was honoured: “The King,” chairman; “The Committee,” proposed by Mr E. McE wen, and responded to by Messrs D. McEwen and .1. Desmond; “Captains and Vice-Cap-tains,” proposed by Mr Jacobs, replied to by Messrs Feelian, McEwen, Mcßrearly and McPherson; “Donors of Cup and Shield” (Messrs Perreau and F. Petrie), proposed by Mr Whibley, and responded to by Mr Perreau; “Injured Players.” “Press,” and “Chairman.” During the evening songs were contributed by Messrs Morgan, Hakaraia, Jacobs, and Baker, Mr Carter presiding at the piano. The function, which was thoroughly enjoyed, was brought to a close by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
