PRESSMEN ON THE BATTLEFIELD.
GREATLY IMPRESSED WITH ALLIED EFFORT. London, Septemb. .15. Australian and New Zealand editors have been interviewed by many English newspapers. They speak in glowing terms of the Allied effort on the West front. The Australian editors, after visiting the Australian battlefields in the vicinity of Pennine, joined the Yew Zealand editors; Who had spent several days with their troops in the region of Rapamne, and also went to Ypres, Arras, and Vi my. The editors were reeeived by Sir Douglas Haig. They visited Pozieres, Albert, the Marne, and the Vesle, and witnessed the shelling of Messines and Mont Kemmel; and from the Vimy Ridge saw the British gnus punishing the German support lines after their evacuation of Lens. The Yew Zealand editors were fortunate in arriving at the positions at Havrineonrt, from which the New Zealanders the same day had driven out the Germans. They saw the wounded receiving their first dressings, and many German dead —a gruesome sight. The party traversed a distance of 150 miles, and appreciated the opportunities of meeting Generals Monash, Lawrence, Rawlinson, Horne, and Russel!. They were received by M, Poincare and M. Clemenceau. The editors were greatly impressed by the spirit of the Allied troops. They learned the full facts regarding the doings of their own devisions, and returned with high hopes of (he future, following the splendid British, French, and American offensive. They regard the present situation as extremely satisfactorv.
