FOOTBALL.
A team from the Shannon School, in charge of Mr Clark, assistant master, visited Foxton on Saturday to try conclusions with the local school first fifteen. The visitors Avere on the Avhole lighter than the Foxton hoys, and were not quite up to them in experience of the game, hut nevertheless they played pluckily all through, and though beaten by 32 points to nil, gave promise of developing into quite a good team. The scrum Avork and passing of the local hoys proved too severe an ordeal for Shannon. Tries Avere scored for Foxton by Reg. LaAvton (2), Jim. Christie (2), G. Westwood, A. Cummerfield, E. and S. Thompson, J. Williams, and R. Burnett. K. Herini converted one try. Hunt played well for Shannon. The thanks of both teams is duo to Mr W. Neville for his efficient and impartial refereeing. The visitors Avere entertained at dinner at Perreau’s by the local lads. The visit will probably he returned next Saturday, Avhen, with the object of bringing the teams more closely together in skill, four or live of the second fifteen will he included in the local team. In the three matches played this year the local hoys have scored 51 points to 0 against.
