VALEDICTORY.
Mr and Mrs Lenihan and family were entertained at a social by St. Mary’s congregation in the schoolroom on Thursday evening. There was a large attendance, and the Rev. Father Forrestal presided. On behalf of the congregation the Rev. Father Forrestal presented Mr and Airs Lenihan with an oak and silver salad bowl and biscuit barrel, suitably inscribed. In doing so, he regretted their departure from Foxton, and referred to the family’s devoted work in connection with the church. He wished them success and prosperity in their home at Napier, whither they are going. Mr Lenihan feelingly responded. During the evening vocal items were contributed by Miss Bryant, Miss Thompson, Miss Reeves, Mr W. Hooker, Air Alcßrearty a recitation and Air Lenihan a step-dance. Accompaniments were played by Misses Lenihan, Reeves and Ebbett. Supper was provided, and euchre and dancing indulged in. At the conclusion three hearty cheers wore given for the Lenihan family.
