DISTRICT MILITARY APPEALS.
The following district appeal cuses were heard before the First Wellington Military Service Board, at Palmerston yesterday: — W. J. Neylon, farmer, Foxton; W. FI. .1. Boswell, farmer, Glen Orona; and J. Howl, farmer, Glen Orona (Mr Karnaugh),—The Board reserved its decision sine die on the usual conditions. Joseph Wheeler, cheesemaker, Bainessc (Mr Moore), stated that he was first assistant in the Bainesse cheese factory") and worked from 7.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appellant also had a farm, on which were'32 cows, appellant and his wife doing the milking.—Decision was reserved sine die. William O’Brien, baker, Foxton, was appealed for by his employer, Mark Perreau stated that O’Brien had been in his employ for live years a.s foreman baker, and would he hard to replace. Witness had applied to the secretary of the Bakers’ Union for a man, but was informed that the shortage of men in the cities was as pronounced as in the country districts. Witness had a large-country delivery, and there was only one other baker doing business in Foxton.—The appeal was dismissed, leave ' being granted to the January draft.
