FLOOD AT WHANGAREI.
DAMAGE TO BUSINESS PLACES. Wba ngarei, Yesterday. Whangarei was subjected to a brief Hood, but of unprecedented extent, Ibis morning, following a continuous downimur for twenty-four hours, in which -1.4 U inches of rain was recorded. Damage, more or less serious, was caused to a large motor garage, the newspaper office, business premises, and residences. In some of the lastnamed instances the occupants bad to be rescued bv various means.
