This list does not include such well-known New Zealanders as Froybej'g and Sanders, two of the best-known V.C, heroes of the Avar. Freyberg lias risen from noAvhere to the rank of Brigadier-General, one of the youngest Brigadiers in the Army, and he bus Avon the other distinction also of the D.S.O, Sanders was a sea tighter. He also Avon the D.S.O. and the V.C. for deeds of bravery never surpassed in any Avar, but the full story of them has not yet been told.
