PRISONERS SENTENCED.
Hamilton, Septemb. 4. In the Supreme Court, Charles Southwell, charged with indecent, assault, which was reduced to common assault, pleaded guilty, and was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, and lo be banded over to the military authorities. .Accused was on final leave when the offence happened. Edward James Wilson, charged with attempted theft from the person, who was arrested in Wellington, and has several previous convictions, was found guilty, and sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment with hard labour. He was in an hotel drinking, when he put his hand in a companion’s pocket. The money fell lo the floor, and was recovered. Dunedin, Septemb. 4. At the Supreme Court to-day Patrick Joseph Oliver was brought up for sentence on a charge of failing to comply with the conditions of his release. Prisoner pleaded guilty recently to a charge of forgery, and was ordered to come up for sentence when called on, The Probation Oftieer said that prisoner made no attempt whatever to fulfil the conditions under which he was released. The Judge ordered prisoner to be detained for reformative purposes for a term not exceeding five yours.
