LIGHTS ON VEHICLES.

OF INTEREST TO ALL BOROUGHS. New Plymouth, Yesterday. The Chief Justice has given a judgment which concerns all boroughs in New Zealand respecting lights on vehicles. In the Magistrate’s Court recently, a defendant was charged under a borough bylaw with driving a vehicle in the streets of New Plymouth between sunset and sunrise without proper lights. The Magistrate stated that the bylaw was invalid, and could not override the statutory law of 1915. The Borough Council appealed, and the Chief Justice upheld the appeal, ruling that the bylaw was reasonable and valid.
