APPEALS ON BEHALF OF TEACHERS. Dunedin, August 29. The Hon. J. A. Hamm states that he has been advised that the Education Department has the right to appeal for Second Division teachers of primary schools called up for active service. The position having become so serious, and in order to place all teachers on the same footing and secure uniformity of action, he has approved of a recommendation of the Director of Education that appeals he made by the Department in eases where Education Boards will not. appeal.
