SHOOTING TRAGEDY.

CHARGE OE MANSLAUGHTER. Auckland, August 22. William Edward Hart, aged 15, was to-day committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter arising out of the death of Leonard Buchanan Cavanagh, aged 12, who ws shot at Otahuhu on Saturday afternoon. The evidence of deceased’s brother, aged 1.1, was to the effect that when lie and deceased mot accused and two oilier hoys in a paddock, Hart, at a distance of 20 yards, said, “Charge!’’ lifted the gun to his shoulder and tired. Another hoy with Hart said the latter did not lift the gun right to his shoulder. hut fired from his chest. Sergeant Harvey said the accused, in a statement, said he put a cartridge into the gun on the road, and when he fired he forgot it was loaded. Hart pleaded not guilty, reserving his defence.
