THE LATE FATHER DORE.
. PROPOSED MEMORIAL. At the conclusion of the morning service at St. Mary’s Church on Sunday, a meeting of the congregation was held to discuss (ho proposal of a ,-uiiable memorial to the late Father Dore. It was decided that the most suitable memorial would «be a new church, and this proposal was taken up enthusiastically. Mr J. Hurley was elected chairman of the committee, and the Rev.. Father Forrestal and Mr D. Purcell joint secretaries and treasurers. Several substantial sums were promised at the meeting. It was decided to issue cards to those desirous of making periodical payments covering a period of twenty mouths. The feeling was unanimous'that a new church would he the most fitting and lasting memorial to the memory of their beloved priest. A PALMERSTON MEMORIAL. A largely attended meeting was held at Palmerston on Sunday afternoon to consider the erection of a memorial to the late ChaplainCaptain Dore. It: was unanimously decided that the memorial take the form of an altar or stained glass window in the'ncw Catholic Church, which is to be erected shortly. As Father Dore was chaplain to the New Zealand Mounted Brigade, including-men from all parts of the Dominion, it was decided to afford an opportunity , to people throughout the whole of New Zealand to contribute towards the memorial, A committee of twenty was set up, Mr E. L. Broad was appointed chairman, Mr F. J. Oakley secretary, and Messrs Goring Johnston and C. A, Loughnan joint treasurers.
