The local State school fifteen defeated a team of eight Old Boys, at the racecourse yesterday afternoon by 12 points to 10. The school played with the wind in their favour, and soon had the Old Boys on the defensive. The ball crossed the line, and was missed by Old Boys’ back, and dropped on. School 3 —Old Boys 0. From a passing rush, Thompson crossed the line, but Hirini failed with the kick. School 6 —Old Boys 0. In the second half. Old Boys were still kept on the defensive until Ball, following his own .kick, secured the leather and crossed the line. Reid was successful with the kick. School 6—Old Boys 5. Shortly after this, School scored another try, which was not converted. School 9 —Old Boys 5. The game was now fairly fast, and Moore took advantage of an opening and scored, Reid successfully piloting the leather over the bar. Old Boys 10 —School 9. Near the. end of the game an Old Boy missed the ball, and Cummerfield dribbled over the line and scored, the game thus ending Sphool .12—-Old Boys 10.
