MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.

DISTRICT APPEALS', The following district. appeals were dealt with at the sitting of the First Wellington Military Service Appeal Board at Palmerston North this week Thomas Edward Drake, flaxhand, of Shannon, appealed on financial grounds, and the hearing was adjourned until the end of August, so that appellant may obtain an answer to his application to the Fnancial Assistance Board. William Henry Currie, labourer, of Foxton, appealed on the ground that he was the only child of his parents, saying that if his father died his mother would be dependent on him. He said he could produce proof that others had been granted exemption on the ground that they were the only sons. He said that he did not mind taking on home service, but he did not want to go to (he front. —The appeal was dismissed, and appellant told that if he could produce proof of any cases of men exempted on the ground of being only sons, ho had better give them (o Captain Walker. The appeals of Waller Kirkland, tailor and mercer,-Shannon, and R. C. Collins, farmer, Shannon, were dismissed, leave being granted until Seplcinbcr and October respectively. The appeal of Charles Cave Rand, scutcher, Foxton, was adjourned until next sitting, and that of John Frederick Ray, dairy farmer, Foxton, was adjourned sine die. •
