AMERICANS ABROAD.
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT.
A cable message of greeting from President Wilson to American citizens in New Zealand, dated Washington, July 4th, was received on Friday by Air A. A. AVinslow, Con-sul-General for the United States. Its text follows;
“On the anniversary which the people are celebrating throughout the United States to-day, I extend to American citizens beyond the seas cordial greetings. The burden of this great Avar which has been thrust upon us has been greatly lightened by the co-operation and loyalty of American citizens abroad, and I take this oesasion to thank them in the name of the American people for their devotion to the cause of their country, and that of the allied Powers, Avitb the assurance that much is to be gained by that filial affection which is so potent a factor in the lives of our people, and which, will redound to the glory of peace and victory for all civilised mankind.”
