FOOTBALL.

A match for the Perrcau Cup was played on the racecourse on Saturday last. There was a good attendance of spectators, and theweather was ideal. Awahon won the loss, and played up the field. The game was fairly fast, and neither side iiad any gi'eat advantage until Crusaders secured a mark near the centre of the field. Taylor succeeded in drop-kicking a goal. Shortly after this, Feehan was compelled to retire from the field with his shoulder dislocated. Within a few minutes, Meßrearrty, another Awahon, had his right arm broken. Play was resumed again, and McPherson (Crusader) had his ankle sprained. None of the. accidents were the result, of rough play, the injuries received being entirely accidental.

After the interval play was again hard and fast, and from a forward rush Cole scored for Crusaders, Taylor converted. There was no further score, the game ending in favour of Crusaders by 8 points to nil.

The players injured in Saturday’s match are all progressing favourably.

A meeting of all players and foothill 1 enthusiasts' will be held in Air Perreau’s rooms to-morrow night, at 7 o’clock, to discuss a means of raising funds for the injured players.
