Wanganui, June 20. At a public meeting held to-night, under the auspices of the Wanganui Second Division League, the decision of the Government to hold an enquiry in camera into the alleged brutal treatment of prisoners at the Wanganui detention barracks was discussed, and a motion carried urging that the enquiry should be of a public nature.
