THE TARANAKI OIL WELLS.
New Plymouth, June 17,
Renewed interest has been given to petroleum prospecting by ■■the fact that a big blow-out occurred at the Blenheim bore at one o’clock this morning, and continued for five hours, proving that the drill has not yet reached the main source of the oil, and confirming the geologists’ opinion that (he source is over 5,000 feet down. The Blenheim bore is now 5,200 feet, When the blow-out was exhausted drilling was resumed. Important early developments are looked for.
