SHIPPING MERGER.
BRITISH SYNDICATE’S OPERATIONS.
London, 14th June
The Manchester Guardian says that a British syndicate, which includes Lord Pirrie (chairman of the Harland and Wolff Shipping Engineering Company) and Sir Owen Phillips (chairman of the Union Castle Line, is purchasing the British interests in the International Mercantile Marine Company. The reported price is £25,000,000, which is much below the present market value of the ships acquired. These aggregate 900,000 tons.
