A A T ex *y impressive* little ceremony took ph ice at the local State school yesterd; ty afternoon, Avhen a roll of honour ..containing the names of expupils hand teachers of the school, avlio haiid paid the supreme sacrifice in the i present Avar Avas unveiled. The narjues Avere painted on the Avail and ene! losed within a laurel wreath surmoui'ited with the motto: “For King aijul Empire.”’ The list of names »| were as follows: —

The i Chairman of .Committee then made l! onching reference to the departed j, pointing out that goodness and gjrcal-ncss were only accomplished! by sacrifice, and applied it to the ! lives of the scholars. In cl onnection with the above, it is pvojj xosed at an early date to procurer) nd ereet a more suitable memorial! at the school, and Mr Porrcan I lias been authorised to collect subsea| .iptions from all ex-pupils, for this plurpose. .
