NEW ZEALAND WIRELESS TROOP.
Theh following has been addressed to the Press Association from Baghdad, dated March 16th; —New Zealand Wireless Troop, still going strong in Mesopotamia, as is evidenced by the decorations and promotions which the troop has gained, Sergt. Robinson (Awanni Radio Station) being awarded the Kalian Bronze Medal, arid Corporal Pearce (Wellington) the Meritorious Service Medal, whilst Captain Melville and Lieut. McKeown have received their promotion in the held. Captain Melville (late Auckland and Rotorua) left New Zealand with (ho Iroop as lance-corporal, and Lieut. MeKoown (late of Wellington) as sergeant.. The former was promoted to second-lieutenant and officer commanding the troop, and biter gained his captaincy, whilst Lieut. MeKeown was promoted to secondlieut. and later to lieutenant. The troop is very proud of itself,: and.it is most gratifying to feel its work has merited these distinctions. One and all are in good spirits, and are determined to keep their end up until a successful issue is readied.
Sergt. F. Robinson is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs F. Robinson, of Thynne Street. He was educated at the local State school and Palmerston North. High School. He joined (he local post office staff, and transferred to the wireless branch, anil was stationed at the Awnnui radio station, norih of Auckland, and while'there enlisted for service, and went out to Egypt. He has served through the whole of the advance. We have previously mentioned thq honour conferred upon him. We understand that Sergt. Robinson has been offered a commission in the Indian Army.
