Last eA'cning, in broad daylight, four men of the Otago Regiment, headed by a n.c.0., Avho is one of our most daring scouts, carried out a brilliant enterprise. Prisoners were Avanted, so they worked doAvn a trench to a post that contained a machine-gun and seven Germans. These Avere found in their shelters, with no sentries on guard. Our patrol killed one and Avere taking the other six back Avith them Avhen more of the enemy were seen coming to the rescue of their captured comrades. The ncAvyomors fired at our patrol, but succeeded in killing lavo of their OAvn men. The Ncav Zealanders, nothing daunted by tins attack, held on to the remaining four, and brought them safely into our lines. The prisoners. from the 41st Division, and stated that they were expecting a British attack. Wo are enjoying beautiful Aveather. The Avoods are carpeted Avith grass and flowers, and the trees are in full leafage. The peasants are still busy ploughing and soAving Avell Avithin the zone of artillery fire. The change from the mud and desolation of our late Flanders sector has done much to raise the spirit and moral of our men. .

May 16.' Last evening about thirty Auckland men, under cover of a flanking protective barrage, made a dash across to the enemy position. In tho brief space of three minutes they had killed, several of the enemy and had returned with (avo prisoners. There Avere no casualties in the raiding parly.
