HARBOUR LOAN POLL.
A public meeting w;is held in the Council Chamber last night for the purpose of organising to assist in carrying Tuesday next’s poll for Iho Harbour Loan to a successful issue. The Mayor (Mr Chrystall) presided, and Mr P. I). Whibley was appointed secretary. The Mayor, after pointing out the absolute necessity in the interests of Poxton and the whole district of carrying the loan, said that the meeting was convened for the purpose of making arrangements to gel) every voter in this district whoso name appeared on (lie special roll to record his vote. Messrs M.cMurray, Walker, 11. Coley, and WhihJey had offered to run their cars for the purpose of bringing voters to the poll, and it was now necessary to map out the borough and the portion of the Manawatu County in this vicinity into four sections, and allot one of each to be attended by each
Mr AVhibley said it would also be necessary to have two persons at. the polling booth daring the day marking off the voters on the roll as they recorded their votes, and advising the drivers, so that time would not be wasted in going for electors who had already voted. Messrs J. Chrystall and M. E. Pcrreau agreed to undertake this work. The Borough was mapped off and allotted as follows: Main Street —Mr Freeman.
That portion of the borough lying to the north of, and including, Avenue Road, Kavensworth Place, •Duncan Street, and Lady’s Mile — Mr Me Murray.
Johnston Street, Coley Street, Cook Street, Futtc'r Street, and Union Street to No. (i Line, including all streets in that vicinity—Mr H. Coley. Moutoa ‘'district to Shannon bridge, Mr Whibley.
Purcell Street, Patrick Street, Johnston Street, from Union Street and Purcell Street, Frances Street, Reeve Street, and No. 1 and 2 Line, Mr Walker.
