RIOTOUS MAORIS SENTENCED.

New Plymouth, May 17,

In the Supreme Court this morning, the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout), delivered sentences in the Rahotu riot cases. To Whiti was sentenced to eighteen months’ imprisonment,and lined £2O, to lie paid on release, in default a further six months’ imprisonment. Six' other Maoris wore sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and fined £10; four others to four months’ imprisonment and fined £7; six others were lined £5 and given two years’ probation, and one other was lined £2 2s and given two years’ probation.
